Carrara (No-UV Gel)
No-UV Gel Polish nail wraps are as simple as traditional 100% nail polish wraps, but they are thicker and less stretchy than their counterparts. They come with 20 nail wraps in very useable sizes. This thicker application is fantastic for instantly covering up nail imperfections and for creating that even, smooth plane we love about salon-style manicures. Many of our testers love this about them, and some are die-hard devotees. All over the internets, and in our testing, there is hot debate about whether the thicker nail wrap is actually easier, or more difficult to apply! Some testers find it easier because the wrap doesn't curl when you remove it from the backing. Other users find that the lack of stretch makes these wraps more challenging to apply perfectly. Some find that the thicker product stays put longer, while others find that the thicker product lifts more easily. You can easily try it out for yourself and see what you think with on of our Find Your Style combo packs!
Application & Removal
Application
To apply semi-cured gels, carefully complete the following steps:
- Wash your hands and clean your nails of any old polish. If desired, use an alcohol wipe.
- Gently push back your cuticles to avoid contact with the wrap.
- Choose a wrap that fits the nail side-to-side. When in doubt, choose a wrap that is slightly smaller than the nail. If necessary, choose a larger wrap and cut it to shape before applying.
- Remove the wrap from the backing, and press onto the nail, starting at the cuticle edge on one side, and focusing upon first one side of the wrap, then the other.
- Ensure the edges of the wrap are carefully pressed down using your fingers, an orange stick, or a rubber cuticle pusher.
- Trim the wraps just past the tip of the nail - don't worry, you'll remove the excess later!
- Repeat with all nails
- Cure under a UV/LED Lamp until fully hard - generally about 60-120 seconds. Different lamps and different gels will require different curing times.
- Once cured, gently file off the excess and finish shaping the nail.
- Semi-cured gels generally do not require a top coat, but if you prefer, you may add a top coat of your choice.
Removal:
- Gently pry up the corners or edges of your wrap at the cuticle side.
- Remove the nails using one of the following methods:
- Polish Remove: Soak a cotton ball in the polish remover of your choice, and press onto the nail for several minutes to dissolve the wrap an adhesive. You may use tin foil, or plastic clips to hold the cotton ball in place.
- Oil Remove: Apply an oil of your choice (such as coconut, cuticle, etc.) to the nail bed where the wrap has been lifted. Using a gentle implement (such as an orange stick or rubber cuticle pusher) begin to gently and slowly work the oil into the edges of the wrap so that it may affect the adhesive and allow you to lift the wrap off without damage.
In general, it is best to avoid peeling wraps off the nail to avoid damage.
